Zion Carmichael

Zion Carmichael is a recent graduate of the Jefferson County Academy of Theatre and Dance at Shades Valley High School in Irondale, Alabama. Not new to the stage, Zion has been performing since the age of three years old. He has notably performed in The Color Purple and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat (Red Mountain Theater Company); The Watsons Go to Birmingham and Fame the Musical (Birmingham Children’s Theater); and Alice by Heart, Antigone Now, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Les Misérables, Ourtown, and The Wedding Singer (Jefferson County Academy of Theatre and Dance). In 2024, Zion was selected as an All-Star Cast Member at the Southeastern Theatre Convention (SETC) for his performance in Antigone Now, among hundreds of competitors. Zion loves all things involved with musical theatre, inclusive of costuming, dancing, prop management, and its musicality. He constantly seeks ways to advance his craft and talent.
Beyond the stage, Zion enjoys cooking, making jewelry, customizing clothes, volunteering, and thrifting. Zion has been accepted into the Musical Theatre BFA program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and is excited to blaze a trail in the musical theatre industry.
