Quincy Eby
Quincy Eby 18, commenced his musical journey at age 5 as a violinist under the guidance of Dorothy Kaplan Roffman at the Thurnauer School of Music. At age 12 he added the viola and began studying with Francesca Silos. Quincy has studied with Molly Carr and Yi-Fang Huang at Juilliard’s Pre-College program and will join Samuel Rhodes’ studio at Juilliard in the Fall. Quincy is a 2024 Sphinx Competition Semi-Finalist and an alumnus of the Sphinx Performance Academy Mentor Program at the Curtis Institute of Music. At Curtis, Quincy studied with Ed Gazouleas and participated in a masterclass with Roberto Diaz. Quincy was a Semi Finalist at the 2024 Juilliard Pre-College Concerto Competition, a Finalist a t the 2023 Adelphi Concerto Competition, and a 2024 From the Top Learning and Media Lab Fellow. Quincy was the winner of the Kutztown International Music Festival’s Concerto Competition and made his international debut with the University of Macedonia’s Orchestra in the Spring of 2023. Quincy is a founding member of the award-winning Thurnauer Quartet and in 2023 the Quartet were quarter-finalists at Fischoff. As a chamber musician, Quincy has performed as part of a masterclass with the Ensemble Cremona Quartet, Mostly Mozart at Lincoln Center, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival. Quincy is the recipient of the New Jersey Governor’s Award in Arts Education and was named A Hero of New York by The New York Post. An outstanding servant leader who is always looking to help those most vulnerable in society, Quincy volunteers at local food banks to help combat food insecurity and at local charities where he can share his love of music with others. Quincy has received a bronze medal for outstanding community service as part of the President’s National Youth Volunteer Service Recognition Program.
